Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place chicken into a a baking dish. 8 X 11 or 9" X 13" is fine.
Mix together sour cream and cream of chicken soup. Put that over the top of the chicken.
Cook for 1 hour. Towards the end of that hour, melt the butter and mix it with the french fried onions. Remove chicken from oven and top with onion/butter mixture. Return to oven for 5-8 more minutes.
Serve with something simple such as a salad, because this dish is very rich and yummy! You'll love it!
