Valentine Cookie Recipe

If you're looking for a valentine cookie recipe to make for your sweetie, these Valentine sugar cookies are it. They're fluffy and fun and sure to make your honey happy. Thanks to my friend Cathy for the sugar cookie recipe. Ingredients: - 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 cups of flower
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
Directions: Cream butter, sugar, and egg with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add sour cream and vanilla extract.

Combine dry ingredients and add to first mixture.


Cover bowl and refrigerate dough several hours or overnight.Roll dough to a thickness of 1/2" on a floured surface and cut into hearts with cookie cutters.

My 3 yr. old cutting all of the heartsPut parchment paper on baking sheets (I used two and alternated) and bake each batch 8-10 minutes in a preheated 375 degree oven. Remove and cool completely.

Note: these cookies were too close together; they puffFor the frosting I used in these pictures: Mix 1 2/3 cups of powdered sugar with 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp walnut extract (I had to use almond, because walnut was nowhere to be found) and 2 Tablespoons of melted butter.

Slowly about 4 oz. of evaporated milk, stirring until creamy, but thinner than a traditional icing.

Divide into different bowls for different colors and using food coloring to come up with your colors. Have at it! This frosting takes some getting used to, but we love it.
