Smothered Steak Recipe

This is my sister's delicious Smothered Steak Recipe. If you have any forethought, you can put it in the crock pot on low in the morning, and it will be ready for dinner that dinner at night.

The smothered steak can also be prepared in the oven. The longer it cooks the more tender it will be.

So lets get down to the ingredients. You need:

  • A large package of tenderized steak. A large package usually has 8 medium size steaks in it.
  • 1 can of evaporated milk
  • 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 package of dry onion soup mix, such as Lipton's

Easy instructions:

  1. Lightly pepper your tenderized steaks.
  2. Put them in the slow cooker or pan. Add your package of onion soup mix, evaporated milk, and cans of mushroom soup.
  3. Cover slow cooker or cover pan with foil. Let pan steak cook on 275 for 3 hours. (In a hurry cook 1 hour at 350 - it may not be as tender, but it will taste yummy.)

If you've put it in the crock pot, just leave it on low all day. It'll be ready when you are!

Note: My sister has been making this in a lower fat version using skim milk and the 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup, and she says it still tastes great. It's not quite a creamy and rich, but still has a lot of flavor.
