Potato Stroganoff

by Lynnette Martin
(Ada, OK )

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. hamburger meat

  • 1 can mushroom soup

  • 1 can sliced potatoes

Brown hamburger meat (again I like to add minced onions, garlic, salt, and pepper.) Add mushroom soup and potatoes, let simmer for about 15-20 min.

Another one of my families favorites!!

All you need to add to this recipe is a package of Lipton onion soup mix and it will be perfect!

It's my photo of when I cooked it for us, Valerie, and I made it exactly according to the recipe, so there was definitely soup in it! :)

Soup
by: Valerie E

Hello*!!! Hey I was just wondering if the picture actually had soup in it?? LOL looks like potatoes and beef. I made this tonight and actually did 1lb burger, *2*cans of soup and *2*cans of potatoes. We all really enjoyed it. 3 Adults ate well and plenty left for hubby's lunch.

Did you do this right?
by: Broccoli?

New to the site and loved the recipe. Just curious why it got one star from the previous commenter.

First off, why add broccoli? At best it absorbs flavor without adding much.

Second, I assumed they meant condensed cream of mushroom soup, without adding the water that is called for on the can.

If you added the water AND broccoli, then yeah. I see your point.

Otherwise, if you made it correctly, and still have a problem, add some cracked black pepper and more salt, maybe some Accent, and stop shaving your taste buds off with a razor blade. Or smoking, or whatever is killing your palate. Probably razor blades.

Not so fast...

Not sure what kind of food you are used to, but this had zero flavor. There is a reason it is so easy. Sorry, but I would never make this again. I even added onion to the meat and broccoli. Oh well. Too good to be true.

Another Substitution?
by: Anonymous

I'm wondering if you might be able to substitute frozen hashbrowns if you don't have canned potatoes or fresh ones. Sounds delicious.

Tastes as good as it is easy to make

Another recipe from this site my family loves! I used 1.5 lbs of beef and added a cup of sour cream and another can of potatoes. I have a family of 5 which includes a teenage boy and a hungry husband. I might use 2 pounds next time.

How Many Does It Serve
by: Anonymous

I am going to try this recipe tonight. Sounds great but I notice you never say how many people these recipes will feed. That would be nice because if you have a base line of how many your recipes will feed you can guestimate how much more of the ingredients you will need!!

Frozen French Fries
by: Elizabeth

We had no potatoes so we added frozen french fries (that had thawed a bit) and shredded cheddar cheese plus small container of Sour Cream and baked it till it was bubbly and it turned out great too!

Very Good
by: Teri

Tried this tonight and it was delicious. I didn't have canned potatoes, so I sliced up 3 or 4 medium potatoes and boiled them until they were just barely fork-tender. I will definitely make this again!

Lynette!
by: Tiffany

It really doesn't get much easier than this was to make. It will definitely be one of those go-to meals when you have very little to cook with! I also seasoned my meat with 1/3 chopped onion, minced garlic, and Lawry's seasoning salt. I added a spoon of sour cream to the soup as well, but don't know if that did anything. It was good!

Thanks,
Tiffany
