hard boiled eggs, eggs

It seems easy enough, I know, but do you really know how to boil eggs, perfect delicious eggs?

I remember the first time I wanted to boil eggs, and I called my mom (a college Master's degree, and no idea how long to boil eggs!) Since then I've boiled hundreds of eggs, and burned dozens, but I finally have it down, a fool proof method.

This is how to boil eggs...

  1. If you can, start with room temperature eggs, but I know life happens, and sometimes we forget to plan in advance.
  2. Place eggs in a single layer in pan and cover with water.
  3. Bring water to a rolling boil, then immediately cover with a lid and remove from heat.

  • Leave medium sized eggs sitting in hot water for 12-13 minutes.
  • Leave large sized eggs sitting in hot water for 15-17 minutes.
  • Leave extra large or jumbo eggs sitting in hot water for 20 minutes.

When time is up, place eggs in an ice water bath.

There you have friends, a simple tutorial on how to boil eggs! Try it, you'll see, perfectly cooked, easily peeled eggs.

Then go pour that cooled egg water on your house plants or in your garden.
