My favorite green beans![]() These are the best green beans ever! You can use canned or frozen or fresh...whatever you have handy. Ingredients needed:
Directions: Cut bacon into quarters and put in a pan over medium high heat. Cook to the point where the bacon grease is rendered into the pan. Put 1/3 stick of butter in the bottom of your saucepan. (In the picture below I was using a full stick of butter because I was making a half gallon of green beans!) Then add your cans of drained green beans (it's very important that the juice is drained off to get the unique flavor!) Add a spoon of minced garlic or a nice sprinkle of garlic powder. Add a sprinkle of seasoning salt, and stir green beans to coat them in the butter and garlic/salt mix. This picture shows what it will look like at this point...but keep going. ![]() Now leave them in there to brown a little. They're almost "fried" in the butter as they brown and get coated with the seasoning. It's okay even if they start to brown a bit. The taste is completely different when you let them fry, as opposed to calling them done after seasoning them. These are truly one of my favorite side dish recipes, and everyone asks how I make them! Easy! Thanks Roxanne for giving me your secret! Return to Side Dish Recipes
