Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Garlic mashed potatoes are easy!

If you have the extra time, real potatoes are better. If you are in a big hurry, instant potatoes can still be "doctored" to taste great.

For Real potatoes

  • I prefer skin on (that's where the vitamins and minerals are!) but if you don't like it go ahead and peel your potatoes. Boil them until soft and drain the water.
  • Add your preferred amount of butter, I say a half stick or more! The quickest way to get totally smooth mashed potatoes is to take a hand mixer and whip them on low with the mixer. Add a splash or two of milk while whipping to make them creamier. My grandma uses half and half or whipping cream to make them even richer!
  • Add plenty of salt and pepper to taste. Add a teaspoon (or to taste) of powdered or minced garlic. If you have parsley flakes, you can add a little for color. Mix until smooth, and voila! Garlic mashed potatoes

Instant potatoes

Make according to box. Takes practically no time. Add a little more butter than recommended, then salt and pepper and garlic (minced or powdered). Taste until perfect! A super side dish recipe ready in less than 5 minutes!
